Fairly pleasant and well maintained grounds, gardens, and food court

点评：Maryland House is a busy rest area along Interstate 95 near Aberdeen. Entry is easy, but getting back on the highway that is only three lanes in each direction is challenging. One tries to merge into the high-speed lane among fast and inconsiderate drivers. The parking lot on the south is quite large, but this afternoon, it was nearly full. Electric charging stations and a regular gas station are located on the north side. The surrounding grounds and gardens are well planted and clean. There are also outdoor tables overlooking the gardens. People being people, there was trash dumped between the parked cars despite plenty of trash cans around. There is a nice field for walking dogs as well as a fenced dog park. This is good since pets are not allowed in the main building. Maryland house itself is spacious with high ceilings and arranged as a food court. A wide choice of meals, snacks, desserts, and ready to go options are available. The central seating area is clean and well spaced. There is an information area just inside the south entrance with a selection of pamphlets and booklets describing local attractions. No one was posted at the information desk. I make a point of finding and reading local historical markers when I travel, so I was looking forward to seeing the two that were shown on the map as located near the entrance. Neither marker was present. Instead, there was a sign at each location stating, "This Historic Marker was removed by the MDOT SHA under authority of the Maryland Historical Trust. This Marker to be refurbished and reinstalled." I therefore had to go online to the Historical Marker Data Base to read what was on these plaques. Overall, the rest area is fairly pleasant and well maintained, just a bit crowded this afternoon.
