点评:Where do I begin? To start, my family have been big Braves fans for generations. I have been to games over the years at Fulton County, Turner Field, and Truist. We live 2.5 hours away from ATL. My husband and boys are huge Braves fans. This was what my son wanted to do for his 10th birthday. We purchased seats in "Chipper's Corner" on the third base line with Chipper's Corner lounge access. We splurged to get better seats and have access to A/C and perks of the lounge.
We hadn't been in awhile, and did our research on bag policies/security. We had heard they were very strict. We went out of our way to purchase the correct size clear bags, and left the (much needed) aerosol sunscreen at home. We only brought in 1 bottle each of water. When we arrived, it was clear that rules were not being enforced. People had large clear bags full of water, sunscreen, and all kinds of things and entered without issue. No one was stopped or flagged for breaking the "rules." This will be important in a moment because lack of water + sun exposure was a problem.
PARKING/ENTRY: We pre-purchased parking in an ADA lot because of mobility issues. That part went fine and shuttle was convenient. If you are not ADA, be prepared to walk a VERY LONG WAY to get to the ballpark from the parking areas. Nothing about this stadium is convenient or easy to navigate. When entering the park, entry went fine, but it is ridiculous how many different apps you have to have your tickets in. Its not enough to just have the tickets in Ticketmaster, Google wallet/Apple Pay, or SeatGeek. No, we were told we also had to have them in MLB ballpark app. So we had our tickets on FOUR different apps. It was just unnecessary.
ADA ACCESSIBILITY: As I mentioned, we have a family member that cannot do excessive stairs. Considering this is a relatively new, modern ballpark, we expected it to be more ADA-compliant than the ballparks of the past. Boy were we wrong. To put it in the words of my 15-year-old, this was the most "chaotic," disorganized, and confusing layout of any ballpark we've ever been to. And we are from a major SEC college town. We have been to sporting events at major venues all over the Southeast. Most are orderly and accessible. This was not. The Chipper's Corner seating was all the way down 2 very long sets of stairs, through 2 huge sections, with no ramp or elevator access to get there. Once in the seating area, the stairs didn't end there. The Chipper's Corner lounge is underground, down another flight of stairs w/NO ADA ramp. It would be simple to build a basic ramp down to the lounge. This made it very difficult for us to utilize the amenities we paid for. I cannot stress enough - if you have mobility concerns, do NOT purchase Chipper's Corner seats. If you have mobility concerns at Truist, you will need to purchase dedicated ADA seats or be prepared to navigate many stairs.
CHIPPER'S CORNER: The lounge itself was fine but VERY small with VERY limited seating. It was very difficult to find a seat inside. The bathrooms always had a long line for the women's because one stall was out of order. I expected by paying for a premium experience, the bathroom situation would be better, but it was not. The free popcorn and ice cream was nice. Lines for ice cream were excessive. Concession options VERY limited. No real meals, just snacky items. The lounge is far away (and many stairs away) from the main concourse where other food is available, so offering meals in the lounge (for purchase) would really make more sense. For a "premium" experience at a $$ cost, the options definitely were not premium. Foodservice staff were mostly kind. They were simply doing what they were told. But that is where the friendliness and customer service stops. Staff outside the lounge were mostly rude and unpleasant.
SERVICE: A huge part of where this ballpark is lacking. We were appalled at the rudeness and lack of courtesy shown by staff towards guests. Many of the staff spoke to us like we were children, barking orders, and screaming at us. If you asked for help, it was a toss up if you would be spoken to rudely or not. Shout out to Kevin, who was the attendant in our section. He informed us of our $10 per person food credit that came with our tickets, which we never would have known about otherwise. He was the real MVP! But we encountered SO many other rude employees, it was bizarre. Most of them acted like we were an inconvenience to them. Being a Sunday, it was "kids run the bases day" which my 10 yo was excited about doing for his birthday. Kevin directed us when and where to go, and my husband and son followed his directions. When they attempted to reach the 3rd base ramp area, they were barked at and yelled at by staff members and told to go another route. When they attempted to go another route to get to the line, a different staff member barked and yelled at them (and others) for coming that way and when they told the staff that they were doing what they were told, he yelled "no one told you to come over here!" They were given such conflicting information, and screamed at instead of being helped. They finally gave up and left. My son did not get to run the bases for his 10th birthday. This was so disappointing and heartbreaking.
EXPERIENCE: It was 98 degrees in ATL on Sunday, with dangerous heat index. There were NO WATER STATIONS set up anywhere in the facility, and workers were not allowed to give ice or cups of water. This was unbelievable to me. You are only allowed to bring in 1 bottle of water per guest (though people brought more, and we would too if there is ever a next time). Again, coming from an SEC college town, the stadiums all have water stations. It is a liability if you do not, with the intense level of heat we have been experiencing. Truist really needs to consider if they want this liability, because it was dangerously hot. At one point, I felt myself coming close to passing out (and this was after spending $$ on water + using my fans) and had to go to the lounge to cool off. The staff would not provide me with ice even though I was on the verge of overheating.
AUTOGRAPHS: My husband and son wasted 1.5 hours waiting for players to come out for autographs before the game. They never came. They missed out on time my son could have been at the kids area playing. It was another huge disappointment. Don't waste your time.
Overall, this experience was a huge disappointment. Going to a Braves game is not what it used to be. We visit Atlanta often, and have been to many major event venues including State Farm Arena recently. Our experience at State Farm was nothing short of amazing, with the most kind and attentive staff. The unsympathetic, uncaring, rude and unkind nature of many of the staff here is absolutely unnecessary. It is not indicative of Southern hospitality. It is so expensive, and that would be something you could live with if you felt like the experience lived up to the cost, but it doesn't. The entire thing feels like a money grab. The guests do not feel valued. We are a baseball family and we love the Braves, but it will be a LONG time before we come back to Truist. We will think long and hard before we spend another cent here.
