点评：After having an afternoon tea at Rutland Hall for my friends birthday treat, I wanted to quickly show her Normanton Church as she'd never been to Rutland Water before. We arrived at sunset, at 4.19pm, but on entry to the car park, saw some signs that said it closed at 4pm. I was therefore expecting the electric barrier/ticket machine to not let us in. Out of curiosity I pushed the button and got a ticket and the barrier opened! I thought, wow we must be lucky as they haven't closed it yet. We quickly went to the church and got some beautiful photos just as the lights turns on, lighting up the church. After rushing back, I realized the car park is pitch black, no lighting anywhere and the pay machines were locked up. I drove back to the barriers where I'd come in, and realised we couldn't get out that way. Then I noticed the note on my windscreen, saying I was locked in until 9am the next morning, they did not respond to call outs, and some taxi numbers were provided. Seeing as we were not local, a taxi would have cost £75. Plus I needed my car for work at 7am the next day. Another couple had also got stranded but they eventually discovered where the exit was, in the dark, and that there was a contactless payment option to get out, so after a lot of phone calls and anxiety, we paid and left.
IF THERE WAS A WAY TO GET OUT, WHY THE SCARY NOTE LEFT ON MY WINDSCREEN SAYING I NEED A TAXI??
I even called the taxi company to see if it was a scam, but the lady was lovely and said they didn't even realise their number was handed out.

Locking people in car parks, or threatening to lock them in, plus poor lighting and signage, plus not locking entrance gates when the car park ACTUALLY closes, is all really very poor.
Perhaps you should introduce a fine instead, but still allow people to leave. One day you'll have an emergency on your hands. As for me, I'm not ever coming back to Rutland Water again.
