Stay away during “ski team” weekends

点评：Been coming here for over a decade because we have a cabin in Arnold. It’s a family style low key kind of place. Has two highs speed chairs in addition to a handful of dinosaurs so if there is enough snow it’s a great place. The bottom black section used to be some of the best bowls and bumps but the lower altitude means it’s never open. 2022-3 was a record setting year and it wasn’t open.
The real problem with this place is the “ski team” I added the quotes because the vast majority of the “team” are just kids in day-camp. There is an actual race team with maybe a dozen kids. Why is this a problem? Because on weekends that they are here the parking lot, dining facilities and lifts are overwhelmed. Look, we have kids who ski- I have no problem with encouraging it! But, they are allowed, en masse, to skip the lift line. Picture a 10’ wait on a chair and 50 (I’m not exaggerating) team kids and their coaches take the next 10 chairs. The parents show up an hour before the lifts open and camp out all the dining tables. The level of self entitled behavior is absurd. We sat down and ate (food purchased at BV) and the attached photo was of someone’s obvious lunch stuff in a Trader Joe’s bag. Nobody came to sit down even after we were done and left. Most of the other tables were similarly ’reserved’ with outside food.
I think this resort needs to make a decision: either decrease the size of the ski team and make them stand in lift lines like everyone else, make it exclusively a race team with tryouts etc so it’s more limited, or don’t open for the rest of us riff-raff whose season passes and $50 lunches, $20 premium parking are apparently second tier relative to the team. Skiing shouldn’t be this much hassle at a small local hill.
