Sandakan Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC)的点评
点评：This place can easily be done by yourself. I get it—people like their independence. But a guide knows this place inside out and can zip you through the time-consuming stuff like tickets and non-essentials. BTW, the price for tickets and a guide is so minuscule compared to what you'll see and the services you'll get. More importantly, they'll spend that saved time on the trail—and point out snakes right next to you that you didn't even notice. Hahaha! That happened to us. Twice!
We walked at our leisure since I had two young kids in tow. We strolled over bridges and winding walkways, completely mesmerized by the towering trees, the massive beehives (the biggest I've ever seen!), and the continued climb up the observation towers. Honestly, I didn't want to go any higher—but my kids were surprisingly game and kept pushing onward. I couldn't let them down, so up we went. And let me tell you, the views from the top were absolutely worth every step. Surreal. Serene. A genuine accomplishment. We finished that trek feeling like we'd conquered something special.
I loved every moment—especially the hikes. I know some people are saddened by the lack of wildlife, but here's the thing: there are chance sightings, sure, but the real experience here is the jungle trek itself. Save your wildlife expectations for the river tours or the sanctuaries—that's where they deliver. Don't let that diminish the value of this place. It's a different kind of magic.
Most people start with the museum. My advice? Save it for after your trek. The air conditioning is a sweet relief, and you can take your time browsing without feeling rushed to get outside.
Bring your repellent—it's non-negotiable everywhere in Sandakan and Sabah, but especially here.
And a heads-up for parents: younger kids might need a hand, and strollers are a no-go. If your little ones are under 4, you might want to reconsider this one.
But for us? This was an absolute highlight of our time in Sandakan. 🌿

记得带上驱虫剂——在山打根和沙巴的任何地方，使用驱虫剂都是必不可少的，尤其在这里更是如此。
另外提醒各位家长：年幼的孩子可能需要帮助，而且婴儿车是禁止带入的。如果你的孩子不到4岁，那或许还是得重新考虑一下是否要带他们来哦。但对我们来说呢？这绝对是我们在山打根期间最难忘的时刻。🌿
