Beautiful gardens well worth a visit

点评：Magnificent gardens - a credit to the small team of gardeners who do a fantastic job of keeping these gardens looking fabulous. We had a lovely chat with Colin one of the gardeners who was very friendly and informative. We visited on Saturday afternoon and we were the only people there. I don't know how it isn't more popular as the gardens are far superior to many other large stately homes nearby and the entrance fee is only £6. Maybe it's because there is no cafe on site although there is a shed with hot drinks and a fridge full of cold drinks with an honesty box. There is also a lovely cafe at the small garden centre only 500 yards down the road which you can visit on the way there or back.
There are lots of seats dotted around to admire the views and clean toilets in the car park. There are quite a few steps up and down but that is the nature of the landscape and the views are spectacular down towards the river. There are beautiful trees of all colours and immaculately trimmed hedges, lawns and borders of pretty flowers and shrubs all labeled so you know what they are. The house is closed now for the season but I would recommend anyone in the area to pay a visit to these lovely gardens, you will be impressed, it's well worth it.
