Amazing ski resort - cosy and traditional

点评：We just spent a week in Oetz for skiing over the new year. We booked a last minute trip and were lucky to find a room at Gastehaus Schrott in Habichen. We booked independently as Oetz doesn't feature on many package deals from the UK but its proximity to Innsbruck made it ideal and just 1.5 hours via public transport from the airport to the door (bus, train, bus) for just 14 euros each. Oetz is small as a ski resort but is sheltered and, therefore, isn't so badly impacted by wind as the linked resort, of Kuhtai. All runs are tree lined and have alot of variety. The lift system is good. Even though we went at new year (a busy time), the queues for the gondola back down were never that long. There are several lovely traditional huts to enjoy food and drink and service at these were excellent and the food of a great standard. There are ski lockers on the mountain which reduces the need to take your ski's and boots down to your B&B each day, The bus service is excellent and also serves Gurgl and Soelden. Even though we are intermediate skiers, and the resort was small, we would easily return there. We visited Kuhtai twice but preferred Oetz. Kuhtai was very bleak with little atmosphere and, as all runs are above 2000m, there were no trees. The wind was strong and there weren't many lifts to service the number of pistes available. All in all, a great week away. Would especially recommend for families as they appeared to have a great set up for ski schools and offer childcare for younger children.
