Beautiful walled garden, but the estate would benefit from hiring another gardener or two
Backhouse Rossie Estate的点评
点评:It was a bit of a dreich day, which probably didn't help, but we were rather disappointed with the gardens. The grass within the walled garden was cut (fancy machines), we give you that, but it was not as tidy as a gardener would leave them. Some of the beds were overgrown and not very well kept. Particularly the Queen's steps path would benefit from bush/tree trimming; this was probably the closest to a tropical rainforest we've experienced in Scotland! In general, it looked as though the estate would benefit from an extra couple of gardeners.
The Bears walk was nice and fun, but our biggest disappointment was that the walk to the tomb, which was marked on the map, is actually cut off with a new deer fence and both gates next to the walled garden were locked. We were growing hungry by then, so we gave up trying to access it from the car park, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to update the maps or warn visitors upon arrival.
