点评:Worth every penny you spent getting there! For me, staying in Nusa Dua, traveling to Ubud took 90 min, same time as a too short Balinese massage was definitely worth meeting this lovely Balinese/ Canadien couple with dogs and a daughter who studies in Melbourne. The cook is beautifully set in a jungle garden setting with 3 little villa’s i’m gonna stay in next time ( they are Balinese modern chique). Both Adi and Frances are accomplished chefs and have a great focus on authentic Balinese food , sustainable and sourced regionally ( which meant 90% from their jungle garden picked by Adi and yourself before cooking starts! During my my class the had 5 staff, incredibly friendly and helpfull and everybody, including the two homedogs(😂) were excellent in English. Adi introduced us to the Balinese way of living, in which community spirit and hence the communal cook-offs are a central team. I’ve been travelling to Bali since 1978 but he told me stuff i was unaware of! The boemboes, the spices- not only did you learn how to use and cook them, but Adi explained where to get them in Europe or Australia or which would be acceptable substitutes. I’m not going to talk about the immersing you-cooking experience itself ( fantastic!) but the kitchen was well equipped, large enough for a group of 7-10 comfortably, modern with standard hygiene ( Adi made me wash my hand at least ten times during the cook) and nice tablesetting were we could eat our results ( the school has a nice selection of drinks you can purchase). So, in conclusion, this is the real deal, no cheap tourist trap. You walk away with a much better cultural understanding of the Balinese and you can make some bloddy good, authentic, delicious food for your family, friends and foo’s ( Adi can soell some secrets about which part of plants can use a terrible ‘durchlauf’ with is a german word you should use an AI translater on😂). I’ll be back for sure. Cheers, dr johan janssen perth Western Australia
