One of the safest beaches in Donegal/Ireland

点评：I've been surfing here for years. Water quality is superb. Lifeguarded from Spring to Autumn.
As a surf spot it's good for beginners on any tide (but the more advanced will know that certain tides work better than others on this beach, the waves have a distinct "tidal character" shall we say...). Surf lessons run throughout summer/Easter/Halloween.
Like any beach, in big surf the rips can get very strong, particularly near the river section and rocks at the far end. I would strongly advise against swimming when the surf is bigger on this beach.
I would say though due to how sheltered it is from the full force of the N.Atlantic (it faces N.East), and how well known it is amongst the surfing community, this is probably a contender for the safest beach in Donegal or Ireland which makes it particularly good for beginner surfers. It needs a really big swell to get punchy waves here.
Getting the weather is roll of the dice, like any part of Donegal, but on a nice day with good waves, there's no other beach I'd rather surf on.
