Private Monument Valley Tour With Our Dog – A Mixed but Memorable Experienc

点评：We booked a private tour with Three Sisters Navajo Guided Tours in Monument Valley because they are the only tour company in the area that allows dogs—and only on private tours. While it was pricey (about $600 for two people), it was absolutely worth it for us because we didn’t want to leave our dog, Charlie, behind. Being able to share the experience with him was priceless.
The tour itself had some great highlights. We rode in an open-air, safari-style vehicle, which was a fun and unexpected touch. The private tour took us beyond the standard public areas of the park into restricted zones, offering a deeper look at formations and sacred sites you wouldn’t see otherwise. One of our favorite parts was visiting a traditional Navajo hut where we learned about yarn spinning and local crafts—we even purchased some beautiful handmade jewelry.
However, the experience wasn’t perfect. While our guide was friendly and accommodating, we couldn’t help but notice that he was far less engaging than other guides we observed leading group tours from other companies. Many of those guides shared rich stories about Navajo culture, history, and the land, even playing traditional music. In contrast, our guide mostly pointed out landmarks, gave names, and let us wander briefly without much background or storytelling. We felt like we missed out on the cultural depth Monument Valley is known for.
That said, being able to have Charlie with us made a huge difference. It’s hard to overstate how meaningful that was for our family. If you’re traveling with a dog and want a quality experience, Three Sisters is the way to go. Just temper expectations about the guide interaction and consider asking ahead about what cultural aspects will be included.
