A lovely golf course
Thurlestone Golf Club的点评
点评：Wow what a friendly golf club! Played here today for the first time and definitely playing here again.
Parked up and walked in to pro shop, warmly greeted and pointed to terminal to enter my car reg. paid for my round and then went into Clubhouse for a spot of lunch - again warm welcome and food ordered (club sandwich) was quickly served, generous serving, and good value for money - very nice and just the job before my round.
There is a lot of practice areas but I quickly warmed up in the practice nets there…. Then off to the first tee.
Course is well laid out around the south Devon coastline. I followed a 3 ball… they did offer to let me through but I explained I didn’t know the course and wanted to follow them. I’m glad I did! The signage is a bit sparse: there are discs in the tee box grounds telling you the hole info but very few boards just a lot of marker posts … I guess that’s to keep the environment natural and unspoilt? If you have a gps or range finder then take it to help navigate! And remember the 16th is literally a 90 degree dog leg!
Course was very dry, especially as most other courses in the area have suffered with the rain. I was chatting to a member afterwards and he said the course drains well and rarely closes.
Scenery is stunning, and as my wife says ‘photos don’t it justice’.
Just a word of warning - there are several public footpaths that run alongside or through the course and therefore you do get the public wandering through the course : some appeared a bit clueless and unaware that standing having a conversation 50 yards from a golf green wasn’t the cleverest thing to do.
