点评:Being able to enjoy one of Minnesotas state parks was a total experience in and of itself. To start the weekend, I met up with a Group hike leader with a 52 hike challenge group leader and hiked a really neat trail. It was an easy paced hike. I was provided the following information about the hiking trail we utilized: “Easy/beginner level. Approximately 2.5 miles with 177 feet of elevation gain. Takes an average of 60 minutes to complete, depending on pace. Being able to hike at approximately 2+ miles per hour would be good for joining this hike.” That was all really helpful information to know ahead of time. I wore my hiking boots, biker shorts and a ball cap, lathered on the sunscreen and bug spray, filled a water bottle, and brought a really small hiking daypack backpack. It was perfect… a bit sweaty, but it was really nice! I felt so refreshed afterwards. Hiking has been so beneficial to my physical and mental health. I’m finding small joys in admiring Minnesota’s beauty and taking full advantage of the peace and gratitude that being in nature brings me. Hiking has been a great outlet for me.
After the hike my friend and I drove to a very nearby restaurant for a drink and delicious food. Then, we settled in for the evening at the Great River Bluffs State Park campground. It was a super welcoming atmosphere. We tented it and were surrounded by a handful of other campers. Everyone was quiet, respectful, and even helpful (forgot a hammer for putting the tent stakes in the ground and the neighbors were generous enough to help out). Since my friend and I tented it we utilized the bathroom building for brushing our teeth, using the bathroom, and showering. Before we went to bed for the evening we went on another hike which was right inside the campground. This led us to the most beautiful scenic overlook. It was breathtaking!
I would highly recommend hiking and camping at this Minnesota State Park.
