点评:We spent a fabulous morning exploring the colourful coastal town of Puerto Jimenez with local birder, Javier Mendoza. He had such an eye and ear for zeroing in on birds in all kinds of habitats, from the mangroves to home gardens. And, he has spent many years learning all kinds of interesting facts about them. Who knew that a woodpecker’s tongue is wrapped around its skull to help cushion its brain against the jarring effects of its powerful beak, as it drills into trees in search of food? One of the highlights of our day was catching a glimpse into the daily lives of both yellow-throated toucans and scarlet macaws, right in the heart of town. We also enjoyed getting to know Javier over a delicious beachfront lunch of shrimp ceviche and the biggest patacones I have ever seen. And, of course, some cold cervezas. Javier is a really lovely person and a passionate, patient and knowledgeable guide. We would highly recommend him, whether you are a seasoned or novice birder.
Muchas gracias, Javier! We hope to see you again sometime.

非常感谢,哈维尔!我们希望有朝一日能再次见到您。
