Let Peggy take you back to "Old Florida "and Cross Creek.
Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park的点评
点评:Went there on a day outing with friends. Went there years ago while exploring Florida for a place to retire. It has changed a bit since then with boat ramp and parking and such. Enjoyed the grounds with the ducks and chickens while waiting for the 1:00 tour. Peggy, our tour guide was a fountain of information. She had a lot of facts and stories of the goings-on at the house and how Marjorie had changed things over the years. Every room had a story and an anecdote which Peggy conveyed expertly. Walking through the place you not only got the feeling of "old Florida", but the feeling of walking in the footsteps of some other famous authors. Frost, Mead, Thurston, Pope among other were among Rawlings house guests. From the 20's to the 50's are illustrated in the changes she made to the house as money came available from her writings. It was well worth the time. If you are familiar with "The Yearling" or "Cross Creek", while not necessary, knowledge of them will enhance the experience. And if you're lucky, really lucky, you'll get Peggy as your guide.
