点评:We visited the museum specifically to see a special historical photographic exhibition, which was most interesting, but so was the rest of the museum. There is a particular focus on the production of speciality pottery (faience) locally, and comprehensive exhibits about the education, upbringing and play of local children in past years (see photo of tiny cars). Everything is well presented and described.
One of the staff was able to tell us all about the museum in fluent English, which we appreciated. Portable seats and a lift are provided for less mobile visitors. There is a small gift shop. Free car parking is just across the street.
The gardens are stunning, beautifully kept and comprehensively signposted with all the plants described. There are several places to sit and admire the gardens, both in the sun and the shade.
Although we visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon there were many other visitors who clearly enjoyed the experience as much as we did. We were told that the museum might have to close soon for financial reasons. This would be tragic and a great loss of information on local culture, customs and history.
