点评：I was leaving Capertee heading towards Lithgow on my road trip... driving through Capertee is rather like driving through most small towns, shortly after leaving town, I saw the sign for a lookout on my left. I turned and followed the road up... when I parked my car in the small parking area... I was gobsmacked.
If I had driven from Lithgow to Capertee the effect would not have been the same, because you do see incredible scenery as you drive... but this lookout was not what I was expecting at the time. But it made sense as I continued to drive.
The Capertee Valley is surrounded by World Heritage-listed wilderness, and is the world's widest enclosed canyon- in fact, it is a one kilometre wider than the Grand Canyon!! But not as deep!
The view here is breathtaking ... utterly breathtaking. Those blue and green hues with the swirling greys in the sky are captivating.
The site has a few information boards, most of them are worn and difficult to read.. . there is a single unshaded picnic table here if you choose to have a picnic with these views as your backdrop.
It's a difficult area to rate, the views are perfect, the location itself is a little ordinary (in as much as the boards are hard to read, road condition into the lookout)...but you are here just to see that valley before you and it's truly something to behold.
