点评:No words can describe the Valley of Dreams. The variety of color, the sense of playfulness, the curiosity it inspires…every turn caused me to say, “wow!”
Ray was our guide and not only set a relaxed pace, he guided us and informed us. He was also patient and adept at engaging a young person who was not as enthusiastic as the rest of their family.
Helpful things to know for the morning hike:
1. The meeting place is at the signage at the intersection of 371 and 7297. But you do end up driving to the parking lot where the only toilets are.
2. The drive to the parking lot is 1.9 miles of gravel. No need for 4-wheel drive but it is slow.
3. Bring water/gatorade. Optional snack.
4. Sunscreen and hat.
5 I was the only one with hiking poles. I just like to have them. Not fully necessary.
6. If you are going on toward Santa Fe, I do not advise cutting through the county roads/side roads. They are not only unpaved but in our case parts had been washed out by a recent downpour. We did not have 4-wheel drive and should have. We were lucky to have not gotten stuck! It was an adventure and very slow going. We were pretty mad at Google maps 🤣.
