点评：A Pretty Walk with a Little Rock Scrabbling! We enjoyed our walk around Sylvan Lake at Custer State Park in September, 2026. Upon entering the park, we received a map and followed the road to the parking lot. We parked after one loop around the lot and found a spot - this was in the late afternoon. The walk around the lake is generally flat until it's not. We walked for a good while on a paved, wide path. But for five or ten minutes, some rock scrambling and climbing is involved. Then, we found ourselves back on a wide, gravel and then a paved path for the remainder of the circumference back to the parking area and general store. The leaves had just started to turn, which was lovely, and we also enjoyed seeing some ducks on the lake. All told, I reckon the walk/ hike took about 90 minutes, and I am very glad we did this as part of our road trip so that we got some exercise in. Once we returned to the car, we continued on a scenic route throughout the park for a couple of hours, driving through narrow tunnels and enjoying views of Mount Rushmore.
