Kilimanjaro, safari and off the beaten track

点评：With the 3 boys and 1 of the girlfriends, we visited Tanzania for 3 weeks. Just returned.
The Kilimanjaro climb was exhausting, most of all the long descent (3000m) immediately following the climb (1300m) to the top on summit day. An amazing experience, but be prepared and in good condition. Lemosho 7 or 8 days is definitely the preferable route, as well for acclimatisation as for nature's beauty, jungle, Barranco wall. The whole team -3x as numerous as the group of climbers itself!- of guides, cook, porters really did a tremendous job. And they do this over and over again. Deep respect.
2nd week we were really up to some more relaxing activity. We visited Lake Natron -the Masai region-, Ngorongoro, Tarangire (absolute favorite, the number of animals seems uncountable) and Mkomazi, with the rhino reintroduction centre. All very much worth seeing.
3rd week was for Usambara mountains, more walking, but also more relaxed, through local villages and in plain nature; to end in Pangani, at the cliffs continuously hammered by the Indian Ocean.
We proposed a whole program ourselves and Marion finetuned it to what became this unforgettable immersion in central African life. The local contacts, the beautiful nature, the hakuna matata (no worries) and pole pole (no hurries) way of living, you need to live it to understand it. Everything smoothly organised. We can but encourage all to go this way, local.
