点评:Not a sanctuary. I'm so disappointed in myself for going here. I booked a tour for Baan Chang and ended up in Kanta - no one explained why or how. Seems like they all work together and just take you to a different place if one is fully booked.
The elephants have ropes around their necks, they have mahouts, they do choreographed things - line up to be fed, they all sit down when bathed (although in the wild they never sit while bathing) they line up for photos etc.
There were no chains or violent methods but who knows what happens when the tourists leave.
Also, they have a baby elephant that is trained to splash water on tourists during the bath and group photos.
I'm just so, so sad because of this. It has ruined my day.
Look up sanctuaries approved by animal activists, they have a list for all countries.
You can see the ropes and mahouts in the pictures!
