点评：A Feast for the Eyes and the Nose! Visiting the International Rose Test Garden is free, once you pay a nominal fee for your on-street parking. What a beautiful, clean, open, well-manicured rose garden. And it's enormous. We have been to many rose gardens and botanical gardens over the decades, and this is one of the largest and nicest we have seen. It was crowded, not only with locals and tourists, but also school groups. I'm sure the kids enjoyed the nearby playground even more. Dozens of staff members were at work pruning, weeding, planting, and mowing, and a few smiled and said hello. We enjoyed reading the signs with the names of the many varieties of flowers. I tried to capture a photo of a beautiful rose - a very deep color. The garden has "black roses" which are quite breathtaking. We probably spent an hour in the rose garden, then took the free shuttle up to walk around the forested botanical garden area as well. Here's a funny anecdote for you: as we returned to the car, a tall young man in white framed sunglasses and a guitar slung over his back was flirting with a beautiful brunette in white jeans, and he says to her, "This is the best smelling place in America. I came here with an open heart and an open nose." Priceless. I hope they someday get married in the rose garden and live happily ever after. I am so glad I went here.
