Small Jewel with Local Social Life in Full Display

点评：I was here late in the afternoon. A very small and busy older piazza with kids running, biking, riding their skateboards, or simply playing around with other kids while their parents, grandparents, guardians, are animatedly conversing over coffee or Aperol spritz under colorful awnings.
There is some music coming out of somewhere I can’t quite pinpoint. A movie is being filmed in town and more than half of it is closed to the public but this piazza is thankfully open. I’ve had to make many detours to finally get here, having to avoid various movie setups or guards.
To one end is the Chiesa dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo (Church of Saints John and Paul) with its very simple white façade, its imposing Gothic-style rose window with, at its center, Madonna and Child. Otherwise, small cafes, restaurants, ice cream parlors, homes, and the old but very well renovated, Municipal town hall (Palazzo dei Rettori – aka palace of rulers) kitty corner from the church surround this lively meeting point.
I love the ambiance. It feels very relaxed, family oriented and non-pretentious. No one seems to wonder if the kids are safe – they are. The place crawls with locals which is what I like to be surrounded by, not overrun by tourists. Enjoy!
