Gorgeous fall day at the zoo

点评：Lovely day at the zoo. It's a 21/2 hour trip for us from Bluffton, SC
Got there at 11 and left at 4
5 hours was enough time to see all the animals, have lunch and take the new sky ride over to the gardens. If you have balance issues be careful getting in and out of the car. It was beautiful gliding over the river. Very scenic.
Don't miss the gardens. They are stunning. Right now they have a Lego exhibit which was incredible. The number of Lego blocks and the time it took to complete the exhibits was unbelievable.
We had lunch at Tusks(?) Food was expensive but pretty good.
I would recommend purchasing the refillable souvenir cup. You can get it refilled with fountain drinks every 15 minutes. Unfortunately it is not insulated so the ice melts quickly but you can just get fresh soda every 15 minutes. Will save you money as a cup of soda is expensive. The cup is sturdy with a snap on top. Does not come with a straw. You have your choice of animals on the cup. I got the giraffe 🦒
If you purchase your tickets online parking is free and you save a few dollars per ticket. There is a child and a senior discount.
It's very easy to find and parking is quite convenient. You can rent strollers and wheelchairs.
If you see one of the docents or staff engage them in conversation.
They love to tell you about the animals and the zoo in general.
There are many hotels within a 10 mile radius if you need lodging.
I highly recommend the zoo for couples, families, seniors and solos.
Go commune with the animals and nature and get away from the stresses of everyday life.
