点评:Yamaguchi Park was a lovely afternoon, sitting along the bank of the gurgling San Juan River.
Otherwise, now is probably NOT the time to visit Pagosa Springs. The entire center of town is torn up with a major 2-year construction effort along Pagosa Street in the center of town. They are in year 1 of the effort. Parking is difficult and it is definitely not a cute little town to walk along the road to visit shops. There are really only 2 restaurants above average mexican or american eats: Alley House Grille and Meander Riverside Eatery. Meander is only open Wed to Sun. Both are quite expensive.
I did a lot of research regarding hotels. Unforunately, we were at the height of the season and rates were really expensive. At no time were we told about the major construction along rte 160. I'm sure it is because they don't want people to avoid visiting. However, it was major interference with our plans.
I understand that there are are few places along the San Juan River where you can enjoy the hot springs for free. If you still decide to go, make hotel reservations early.
