Beautiful place, but dishonest management and skinny animals, buyer beware

点评：The hiking and camping are all that it is worked up to be. It is beautiful and very unique. My friends and I originally secured a permit for May of 2024, I was the permit holder. I received an email about a month later (after we had already booked non refundable flights) informing me that we had been overbooked and would need to change dates or receive a refund. After much discussion, we decided to pay the several hundred dollars to change our flights and reschedule for July. Due to the flight change, I was no longer able to pick up the permit the night before so I attempted to transfer the permit to my PATL. (a 10% fee) The link I was provided from the tribe was incorrect and somehow allowed my PATL to purchase another group's reservation. I emailed the tribe and was told that "there was no known issue with the website". Several groups have had similar issues with the transfer and mule payment systems. We ended up paying twice for the same trip and were basically told, it was not the tribe's problem. Aside from ending up with a $950 per person bill, it was mostly a good experience. I will also warn others, the animals are not well cared for. The horses and mules are skinny, many are straight up emaciated. The dogs were covered in fleas and some had what appeared to be mange. The campgrounds are full of trash, a lot of it is probably from all of the tourists, but the village isn't much better. If I had know this prior to booking the reservation, I would not have gone and I can not recommend it based off the dishonest management and the terrible conditions of the animals there. If you decide to go, you need to be willing to risk the entire cost of the trip and expect dishonest credit card charges.
