点评:I was here when I was a kid, about 65 years ago, and I visited with my wife and kids in the 70's, and finally on my own (widower) this year, 2024. Other than there now being a visitors center, not much else has changed.
What makes this park an attraction that it merits a visitors center is the headwaters of the Mississippi River. The park is large, and there is much more to do here than just see the headwaters. But that is the reason I stopped.
Otherwise, it is an expansive park by Itasca Lake, and has plenty of hiking trails, as well as campgrounds, and even a ranger lookout tower. There are two entrances, an eastern entrance and a northern entrance. The northern entrance brings you to the headwaters. You can also get there from the eastern entrance via park roads. At the visitors center you can purchase a parking pass and of course they have lots of tourist stuff and restrooms too.
