Spectacular Sunset Saguaro National Park Hike

点评：My husband had business in Phoenix (Scottsdale) and we decided to go a day early to explore the Saguaro National Park. Rented a car and drove the 2 hours to Tucson, walked the Mica View and Mesquite Loop, then drove the 2 hours back to Scottsdale. This was our 20th National Park and it did not disappoint!
We parked at the Boundary Trail Head around 3:00 pm. You don't have a grand gate entrance here, or a Visitor's Center. It just looks like you're driving into a neighborhood. The Rincon Visitor's Center and that road into the park was closed due to the government shutdown. Fortunately, we had found this out before we arrived when we checked our AllTrails App about hikes. This is the East side of the park.
The Mica View Trail was stunning! There was also a restroom and picnic area. The weather was perfect , about 82 degrees when we arrived and dropped down into the low 70s with the sunset. It was an easy, well-marked level walk, tennis shoes are fine. We did about 4 miles expanding on the Mica View by also doing the Mesquite trail. The changing light during this part of the day was gorgeous and so was the Saguaro forest with the mountain backdrop. The Crested Saguaro was also a highlight, it looks like an alien.
