点评:The Fitzroy Barometer has been at Mousehole for as long as I can remember. It is now set in the wall of the Ship Inn having been gifted to the Mousehole Harbour Authority in 2009. Admiral Robert Fitzroy as he was then donated the barometer to the village in 1854 to assist with weather warnings for the local fishermen. Fitzroy Barometer is an early relatively cheap implement which he used to predict weather. In fact he has been credited with the start of early weather "forecasting", when he was head of the British Meteorological Department.
As a young naval officer he also Captained the Beagle on it's surveying missions around the Americas and was the captain when Charles Darwin was on board and was responsible along with Darwin for writing the accounts of the voyages of the Beagle.
Definitely worth a quick look as you pass the Ship Inn, or take your drink out and read about it.
