Best Full-Day Boat Tour of Vis -- Absolutely Awesome!

点评：The best way to see all the beauty of the island of Vis is to take a full-day boat tour with Ames Trips. This was the absolute highlight of our 14-day visit to Croatia. For just 60 euros per person, we had a 10-hour tour of the south side of Vis, stopping at 5 glorious beaches where we could enjoy swimming in the crystal clear blue waters. It is an unforgettable experience to swim from the boat to the shore and back. (You can jump right in the water or use the ladder.) We also got to see several caves along the southern shore. Normally, the boat goes around the entire island, but due to windy conditions on the north side, we cruised from Komiža to Rogačica, north of Vis, then turned around and took the same route back to Komiža. The boat was quite comfortable and held about 30 passengers. Our captain, Pjerino, told wonderful stories (in Croatian and English), played his guitar and sang songs. His wife, Silvana, was our captain and chef that day. In addition to taking the helm, she prepared a fantastic lunch for everyone on board. (Lunch was included in the price and for just 5 euros more, you could purchase a bottle of wine to go with it.) The tour was amazing. Pjerino and Silvana take great pride in their island home and their culture. If you have the time to take this 10-hour tour, you really must do it. It exceeded all of our expectations. A few things to note: You need to make a reservation in advance by dropping by the Ames Tours office near Pizzeria Charlie in Komiža. The schedule is dictated by the number of passengers and the weather, so you might have to wait a few days for your chance to go. They will call you a day or two in advance to let you know when you are scheduled to sail with them. They only accept cash payments. Bring your own towels, sunscreen, hats and plenty of water to drink. And make sure your phone/camera is charged because you are going to get some gorgeous photos.
