点评:We visited the eastern end of the beach at Houlgate, having searched for somewhere dog-friendly. We arrived around midday and found on-street parking easily in Rue Baumier at the top of the Cent Marches steps (leave your car in gear!). Dogs are allowed on the beach from the bottom of the steps eastwards towards the Falaise Vache Noire. Luckily the tide was out when we arrived and we had acres of flat sand to run about on, backed by the cliffs. Although it's right next to Houlgate, it felt almost deserted because the tide goes out so far, and we had the cliffs and trees at our back. There are rock pools and shells you can investigate. When the tide comes in (take care, it comes in very quickly), the sea comes right up to the cliffs, and the rocks at the top of the beach as you return to the Promenade Roland Garros. However, we were still able to perch on the rocks and go for a swim. The dog-friendly area is outside the lifeguard section, but the beach shelves very gently and the sea feels safe. It's nice and sandy underfoot.
