St Eustatius Historical Foundation Museum的点评
点评："Golden Rock" Statia is historically very important. She was the gateway to the Caribbean for more than just the Dutch. Its trade function was crucial, its population multiple times its current size. Then, the recognition of the United States by its "first salute" only increased the "historical gem's" position.
And the museum, in its historical building, is one of the testaments of its "heydays". Heydays, mind you, affected by slave trade and plantations too. And the museum pays respect to such.
A mr Flier in his review at TA does wonder aloud if not more can be done. And I share that sentiment. 21st century museum looks don't require much money, they require passion. And for history centered Statia - such will pay off in a visitor century in which culture, history and authenticity is increasingly important.
