点评：Small museum focused on history of Deventer, with some really choice pieces. I particularly enjoyed the forgery and the audio explanation. How often do you get to see an admitted forgery of an Old Masters painting, which had fooled all the experts? That alone was worth the admission for me.
The gorgeous painting by the talented artist who died so young. What a loss of talent.
At the time I visited, there was also a special exhibition about the filming of A Bridge Too Far, which was filmed with Deventer standing in for the destroyed town of Arnhem. The budget must’ve been massive, based on the time, building work and legions of people involved. I was angry myself at the Director for reneging on his word to hold the premiere in Deventer. The whole experience clearly meant so much to the townsfolk on so many levels.
My only complaint: I wish more items on the second floor had either had English translations or that more audio guide stops had been available on that level. The audio guide (English) was excellent.
