点评:I simply cannot understand why we do not make better use of the Ibbankatuwa tombs for tourist promotion. After all, they date back to around 800 BC—an incredible piece of history that should be of great interest to international visitors, particularly those from countries with much older and well-documented civilizations.
Unfortunately, most of the information and notice boards are in Sinhala, making it difficult for foreign tourists to appreciate the significance of the site. Having a knowledgeable tourist guide would make a huge difference.
If the government is unable to provide guides, why not allow and encourage trained local people to offer this service? It would not only improve the visitor experience but also create an opportunity for the local community to benefit from tourism.
This is a historically important site that deserves much better promotion and presentation.
