Independence Ranch Hog Hunting的点评
点评：I recently hunted at Independence ranch. Please bear with me as this will be a long review.
For starters we (My best friend and I) purchased the $699 hunt package. When I arrived on site I had to pay an additional 750 dollars up front before the hunt even got started. We both ended up harvesting 4 hogs each. I do not remember the exact weights, however we only had 1 hog at 50lbs, 5 between 75 and 100lbs, 1 around 130lbs and one at 180lbs.
Apparently once you hog goes over 50lbs you do not get credit for the 50lbs you pay by the pound starting back at zero. The initial 50lbs that you paid for is apparently forgotten about.
The smallest hog and the largest hog were traded for sausage at $3.00 per pound, which I understand. But the end result is that we were both charged and additional $750, when it came time to check out.
So 699+750+750= $2199 x2 hunters comes to $4398 for 2 hunters.
you do the math for yourself, the cost of this hunt is not as straight forward as it looks. But it is darn good marketing to get you in the door.
Ranch size. you read or are told that there is 26 miles of fenced area. That sounds like alot, but folks that is not very much. By my calculations that is only about 265 acres.
They say that everyone should bring 100lbs of feed per hunter.(That is 2 50lbs bags) during my stay they only put out 1 bag of feed, on the first evening. The second bag was not used. So it is my guess that they use the second bag for feeding during the off season. Additionally it is not placed in feeders it is poured on the ground in a line(Which makes sense) but all of the other animals (rams, blackbuck, cows etc.) gobble most of it up before the hogs even come in.
You have to pay a guide fee. Basically the guide fee covers them picking up a downed hog... when you call them. (I called on my first hog and they did not come get it. I waited over an hour. Ultimately, I had to place it in my truck and haul it back.) As far as getting to your stand, they give you a link to their web site which has a video showing you how to get to your assigned stand. The only exception is if PAY, to go to the honey hole. Then someone actually takes you to your blind.... after you drive your own vehicle from camp to the designated parking area.
" Lets talk about...The honey hole".... it is pretty much a guaranty that you will get your hogs. It's a hog shoot not hunt.(Like shooting fish in a barrel.) Hunters in one part of the ranch walk through their assigned area and drive all the hogs to the honey hole area where you are sitting facing a fence line. the hogs have no place to go except to run along the fence line where you are waiting to harvest them.
If it wasn't for the fact that we did have a good time and most of the staff was courteous and friendly. I would have only given 1 star.
The bottom line is this. There are many other places out there offering hunts that do not have all the extra/hidden charges. Find another hunt unless you just have money to give away.

“咱们来聊聊……那个‘蜜窝’吧”……去那儿基本上就能保证能看到野猪。那其实就是个射击场，而非狩猎场。（易如反掌/轻而易举。）牧场中某一区域的猎人会沿着各自负责的区域行走，把所有野猪赶到你正面对着围栏坐着的那个区域。这些野猪无路可去，只能沿着围栏奔跑，而你就在此处等着猎杀它们。
要不是我们确实玩得很开心，而且大多数工作人员都彬彬有礼、十分友善，我只会给1颗星。
总而言之就是如此。还有很多其他地方也提供狩猎服务，而且不会收取各种额外或隐藏费用。除非你手头有多余的钱可以随意挥霍，否则还是另选别处吧。
