点评:This is a very scenic natural swimming hole in the pristine Rondout Creek. It is some 6 or so miles upstream from NYC's Rondout Reservoir. It is some 20 feet deep, crystal clear, and frigid even on the hottest and most humid days. It is on a paved but narrow road, adjacent to the Peekamoose Mountain trailhead (Peekamoose Mountain is one of some 35 Catskill peaks with summits above 3500 feet in elevation). Unfortunately, word spread by the internet and the area was being loved to death. On one visit, it looked like Coney Island with dozens partying, swigging tequila, toddlers in diapers, rampant trash, and a bus load of middle schoolers from a summer camp. Vehicles haphazardly parked on the shoulder-less roadway. It was -- literally -- being overrun. NY State has cracked down. Roadside parking is no longer possible and a strict reservation system is in force for visitation and there is now a charge. Now that the Blue Hole has been cleared of the big messes and hordes of party animals, your experience should again be excellent.
