Nice beach area with various little beach huts where you can buy food, drinks and souvenirs.
I found the beach clean and although I didn't go into the water/sea there are shallow areas perfect for paddling and dipping your toes in to cool off in a nice hot/sunny day.
There are bins by where the bar and food huts are to put your small rubbish into if you need to.
I bought a souvenir from the Beach but and ice cream from another beach hut which was delicious and reasonable. I had the cherry ice cream in a waffle cone, absolutely divine and gorgeous eating it on a nice warm sunny day.
The only difficulty I would say is getting up and down the beach. If you have mobility issues it's quite a steep climb back up. Although the steps leading to the beach are staggered, people with mobility problems really need to take it easy even when they have someone helping them.
Once you get down to the beach area, you'll be rewarded with long stretches of sand/beach that seem to go on for miles.
There's parking at the top before heading down to the beach area, which was £5/day.
I would love to go back next time I'm in St Austell as it's a lovely, clean and quiet beach area.
Just make sure you take your sun hat, parasol/beach umbrella or some form of beach shelter with you especially if you are a family with small children as I didn't notice any sheltered areas apart from where the bar areas are.
