点评:Positives: free to get in. The garden was great, a real oasis with loads of different formal and informal areas and staff were friendly.
BUT - cafe was poor. No water in the water dispenser and we waited over ten minutes for a black coffee. We bought sandwiches but there didn't seem to be any plates or napkins. Loads of dirty mugs and plates on tables which hadn't been cleared though we saw at least four people serving. If its free to get in they must make their money off the cafe? They can't be making much. The bookshop was really bad. We usually really enjoy National Trust bookshops but all this had was a load of out of date, tatty books about the war and a few ancient thrillers - really disappointing. It all felt a bit like a not brilliant old people's home. Such a shame. If you don't have your own garden and you want to sit somewhere nice for a bit then go; otherwise I wouldn't bother.
