Great ramble through the old woodland and along the river, amazing sculptures

点评：There are four paths to follow in Luss, all start at the public car park.
There is a Village/Lochside, Riverside, Slate Quarry and Heritage Walks. If you have time the Heritage Walk is ideal, as it includes all the walks as well.
We picked up the Heritage walk on the road opposite the garage and headed off into the woodlands over the railway line.
The walk is just amazing with plenty of information boards as you walk. On the walk you will encounter many things from fairies and trolls and many more creatures both real and mystic from Scottish legends.
The walk takes you through some old native woodland and along some burns with the water so clear you can even see the fish.
The old Slate quarry is now a small depression, rehabilitated by nature. It is only the remains of the old waste dumps along the paths that will help identify it.
Make sure you don't miss Owl Alley as you walk along. There are some amazing owl sculptures in the trees all of which have small information plaques to identify them. Clearly these are well done and the whole feature is well though out.
The path also appears to meetup with the Faerie Trail from the car park near the Faerie Farm.
There is also an old water wheel near a wear along the river walk. Following the river you come back to the road at the river bridge, which you cross over to continue you walk along the river back to the Luss and Loch Lomond. As you walk along the river you also get to see the farm animals from sheep, goats, donkeys and the famous Hilan Coos. Unfortunately when we got back to the village the bridge over the river was closed for maintenance so we had to walk back around via the road to get to the Luss Parish Church and the loch. No worries we had toughly enjoyed our afternoon in the woods with the mystical folk. This would be a must walk for families with children as there is lots to see and learn. However some of the paths are quite steep and when wet slippery, so good shoes would help.
