Beautiful and a must do

点评：This is one of the most beautiful spots I’ve ever been. A lot of that might have to do with where I was in my life when I went here, but I think it really was a spectacular spot.
The hike was not bad. It took me 30 minutes from trailhead to the peak. I was rushing it to make sure I beat the sunset. One other person was up there already. So it was very peaceful. There are sort of two peaks, one of which has a little bench and very neat sign showing the distance and direction to places like Hawaii and Machu Picchu. But having that other peak gives space so if there are other people they can be spread out more for reflection of photos, etc. the view from both is awesome and basically the same.
You can see the sunset/rise from both peak, but the main one has that better view of Alter do Chao. The rest of the view is water and or relatively flat, and the forest just goes on forever.
I left a little before the sun was really down because the smoke started obscuring the sunset anyway and there was nothing more to see. It was dark by the time I passed the trailhead again. I describe that just to give a sense of how long things take.
This is a must do in any trip to alter do Chao. The hike isn’t for someone with severe enough mobility issues, as it does get rocky and a little steep, but it isn’t difficult. Much of the hike is before the ascent, and is just a flat trail through though the forest.
