点评:My wife and I toured the Austerlitz Battlefield with Helena Sveboda in August. She's very pleasant, well educated and has traveled and lived all over the world. And she has a profound knowledge of this battlefield and how the battle developed hour-by-hour and exactly where. This is a very large battlefield, and the sites of this battle's famous melees aren't well marked, if at all. She takes you exactly where different phases of the battle happened and points out how the elevation changes and topography greatly affected the conflict. I've read about and studied this battle for decades, yet found myself surprised and delighted at the numerous subtle details she pointed-out, all showing that extensive homework and attention to detail were no small parts of Napoleon's success.
Touring Austerlitz is not for those who aren't particularly interested in the Napoleonic era or this legendary action. But for those that are interested and wish to learn more, a day at Austerlitz with Helena is ideal. You simply cannot get a sense of the terrain and how it affected events without experiencing it in person, and having someone very knowledgeable explain all the details. I cannot recommend Helena highly enough.
