Idyllic mountain plateau lake to escape the summer heat

点评：While staying in Ödemiş, I came up to Gölcük Gölü (Lake) for the weekend to stay at a friend’s holiday home.
Gölcük Lake is situated on a mountain plateau above Ödemiş & it is the go to place to escape the heat of Ödemiş during summer where temperatures around 40 degrees celsius are common. There are plenty of places to park and set up a tent and many people just come up to camp by the lake. There are also quite a few holiday homes by the lake as well as a hotel. There are lots of local cafes and tea houses as well as a weekly Sunday market place.
Gölcük is truly an idyllic location with a lovely mountain breeze coming across the lake. Just sitting by the lake is very blissful. Truly perfect in summer. In winter it is very cold and can snow and the lake has been known to freeze over. Most people who have holiday homes here are only up here during the spring & summer months.
