Wonderful trip with Nuwan around Northern and Central Sri Lanka

点评：Nuwan picked me up at the airport at 2am then drove my friend and me around Sri Lanka for 10 days. We went from Colombo up to Mannar, saw the flamingoes which had arrived, then on to Jaffna, the capital of the northern Tamil heartlands. The Northern Province has a different vibe to the better known south and centre of the country. The bird life, much of it aquatic, was sublime. There are military roadblocks everywhere but with Westerners in the car they rarely stop you.
Then we headed back down south, through flat lands that were ravaged by the civil war, to the hill country and tea plantations around Nuwara Elia and Huputale before we drove back to Colombo. Nuwan then drove me back to the airport for a 4am flight. He was reliable, pleasant, resourceful and safe. And great company. Nothing was too much trouble for him. He always tried to accommodate us, and as he knows his country inside out he often knew good places to eat along the way. I cant recommend him highly enough.
