点评：We are now officially scuba divers — and we owe that entirely to Shannie and the wonderful team at Coral Divers. Going into this as complete beginners, we weren't sure what to expect. What we got was far beyond anything we could have imagined.
Shannie is an extraordinary instructor. Patient beyond measure, warm, funny, and genuinely passionate about the ocean and the reefs she shares with her students. Every training exercise and training dive was explained clearly and delivered with so much care — she has a real gift for making complex skills feel completely natural and approachable. Above all, she was deeply concerned with the well-being of her students every step of the way. We never felt nervous under her guidance; we felt safe, supported, and genuinely excited.
After earning our certification, we decided we weren't done — we booked two recreational dives with Shannie as our guide. The first was a daytime dive, and the second was a night dive. We'll be honest: we were a little apprehensive about diving in the dark. But Shannie put us completely at ease, and what followed was one of the most magical experiences of our lives. Armed with dive lights, we descended into pitch-black water and discovered a whole different ocean. The marine life at night is simply incredible.
Across all of our dives, we were treated to an abundance of sea life — angelfish, clownfish, and even the invasive lionfish. We were lucky enough to watch an octopus swim freely and change its camouflage right before our eyes. We also encountered a couple of moray eels, one of which seemed to have a score to settle with Shannie — it was a tense and thrilling moment. She remained completely calm and in control, and we felt totally safe throughout. It's the kind of unforgettable wildlife encounter you could never plan for.
Such was our confidence in Shannie's instruction that after our two guided dives, we rented equipment and went out on our own — twice, both during the daytime. As brand-new divers, that is not something we ever imagined we'd do on this trip. But Shannie had prepared us so thoroughly and so well that we felt completely comfortable and capable in the water independently. That is the true measure of a great instructor.
We came home with more than a certification. We came home with a lifelong love of diving and a genuine friendship in Shannie. We've already connected on Instagram and are already planning our return trip. The group was small, the experience was personal, and every moment was extraordinary.
