Vast Natural Area and Home to the Observatory, LA Zoo and Hollywood Sign

点评：Vast natural area in the Santa Monica Mountains overlooking Los Angeles serving as a city park. Many hiking trails and great views of the city but also the location of many of the top sites in LA including the Griffith Park Observatory, the Greek Theater, Autrey Museum of the American West, Forest Lawn Cemetery and the Los Angeles Zoo. This is also where you will find the iconic Hollywood Sign. I visited the outstanding Observatory one morning but also returned at sunset as the views overlooking the LA all the way out to the Pacific Ocean are amazing at this time. Beware that it is very crowded at this time and forget about parking here. Take the public bus from the free lot near the Greek Theater but arrive an hour before sunset or else the bus will be caught in paralyzing traffic. I also had a wonderful experience hiking to behind the Hollywood Sign along the 4.5 mile out and back Innsdale Trail that connects to Mt Lee Drive. Very popular activity so arrive early to find a parking spot as it is limited and there will be fewer on the trail.
