点评：We really wanted to climb Ben Nevis—but not via the busy mountain path. Since we had no mountaineering experience, we hired Peter to guide us, and it was one of the best decisions we made. Not a single moment of regret!
We took a more adventurous route via the headwall behind the CIC hut, which was far more exciting than the standard trail. Despite having zero climbing experience, it was completely doable for the two of us. There were moments of jumping, scrambling, and clambering, especially near the top, but thanks to Peter’s calm presence and expert navigation, I felt safe and confident throughout.
And yes—we got exactly what we came for: a Ben Nevis climb without crowds. In fact, the only beings we crossed paths with were two sheep! :)
At the summit, there was no view (thanks to mist and rain), but honestly, that didn’t matter. For us, it was all about the journey, and that part was absolutely unforgettable. The top was a bit busy with hikers, so we didn’t linger—just enough time to take it all in before heading back down.
We followed only a short stretch of the mountain path, and then Peter led us back through peaceful terrain—heathlands, river crossings, stunning quiet. The return was just as scenic and satisfying as the climb.
Two challenging, beautiful routes that I’d recommend to anyone with a decent fitness level and a spirit for adventure. Truly an unforgettable experience!
