Lovely wild experience
Encounter Maria Island的点评
点评：It is easy to park the car at Triabunna wharf then head over to the office to purchase or pick up your tickets. Staff here take the time to recommend suitable routes and remind you to take all the food and water you’ll need for the day. The ferry ride is a smooth 30 mins and if you hire a bike it is a short walk to collect it. You can take your own bike on board for a fee too. The bike hire place give you some basic instructions on their gears and make sure you can ride before you head off.
We took off to the painted cliffs/Oast house circuit first. Very impressive and worth the walk or ride to see this beautiful marbled-looking rock face, followed by a lovely walk through forest and meadows. We then took a ride through tall forest areas to the Reservoir. Beautiful! Finally we did the Fossil Cliffs circuit. This involved some steep climbs, but the wild natural ocean views are worth it.
We had seen a few wallabies, but were surprised to have not seen any wombats, then after we returned our bikes we saw a mother and baby wombat wandering around the Darlington area. A few of the buildings in the settlement have information on convict life on the island.
We had a mild Summer day at Maria island and absolutely felt it was worth going. We hired biked, but if you can walk for several hours you will be able to get around the highlights in a day.
