As a foot passenger: OK Ferry Terminal in beautiful surroundings. Problem with Left Luggage facilities.

点评：We were foot passengers on the 23:59 Brittany ferry to Bilbao on 13 September 2024. This is very much what you expect a Ferry Terminal to be. There were some vending machines and coffee machines whose quality was all right. Chairs were comfortable enough. Though there were some issues, see below.
Public transport to the ferry terminal is primary by train. The last train to the port is quite a few hours before midnight. Our plan was to turn up to the port in early, leave our luggage in the left luggage lockers, and explore the surrounding area.
The left luggage lockers exist, and they are free, as a result it is as though locals use them for long term storage (I do not know if they actually do, but it is as though they do). There were some small lockers available, but we needed the larger ones, and there was none of those. This means we could be stuck with our luggage in the terminal for a long time. Fortunately for us the Brittany Ferry guy turned up early, and he let us leave our luggage with him, allowing us to explore the area.
The area was beautiful. Within five minutes walk from the terminal itself we were on the most beautiful of beaches, and we had a good walk on a "cliff path" there. Rosslare Harbour village (or whatever it is called) is not much to write home about, but it has cafes, pubs, and I believe a supermarket there (we did not need that), so no problems there.
If going here as foot passengers, plan ahead. You may need to wait a long time, especially for midnight sailings, so recommended use small cases or rucksacks rather than a large one as it can fit in the smaller lockers. If you can and weather permitting it is worth exploring the local area.
The whole port is undergoing expansion, however, I think the passenger ferry terminal itself will stay as is as it looks quite new.
