点评:So this is super affordable and close to DC. But…..
We arrived as our camp host was leaving, his rig looked down on his luck. He stated he was no longer an employee. Near to the shower house in loop D a homeless woman complete with blue tarp and shopping cart was living. I assumed she was down on her luck- but hopefully was nice enough if rangers were looking the other way.
Around 2 am I was woken by screaming- a female or child, a man yelling, and the sound of shattering glass. The NP police showed up. After that my kids were too afraid to leave the windows open and we spent a stifling night in the RV.
Tonight we found blood in the shower and sink / women’s shower house. I guess the other camp hosts don’t clean daily and it is probably left over from last night’s drama with whatever camp site.
This is such a wonderful facility, has so much potential if they patrolled better and ejected campers rapidly if needed. The shower houses do need a little tile repair, but I could overlook this due to proximity to DC.
The camp hosts in general aren’t the retired couples- the only ones I know of don’t seem friendly, their Van has mismatched panels that adds to the Wild West (not in a good way) feel of this place. Perhaps a ranger needs to staff the campground nightly to make sure things stay calm.
