Popular Surf Beach with Large Sand Dune
One Mile Beach的点评
点评：This is one of several beautiful beaches and swimming areas in Forster. After the main beach, One Mile is the next most popular.
What you have here is a long, white sandy stretch with rolling waves. At one end is a small rocky headland and at the other end, a giant, single sand dune spills down onto the beach. Whilst kids are happy to climb the dune and then hurtle back down, you can walk to the top of the dune via a short boardwalk which starts at the end of Strand St. From the top, you have a lovely, elevated view down the length of the beach.
Facilities are excellent so its easy to spend several hours here. There’s the Cape Hawke SLS club, a cafe (although I think it may only be open in summer), outdoor freshwater showers (brace yourself, its cold water only) and public toilets/change rooms at both ends of the beach.
It’s easily accessible if you are staying in the centre of town, although its a bit far to walk.
It’s worth noting that One Mile Beach is on the Bicentennial Walking Trail. Starting from the main beach, this lovely coastal walk will take you past Pebbly Beach and ‘The Tanks’ before reaching One Mile. This will take at least 40 - 45 minutes.
Jump in the car and you will be there in less than 5 minutes. There are free carparks, one at either end of the beach.
Palmgrove park also sits behind the SLS club. This is a nice family space with a large open grassy area, picnic tables and a playground suitable for small kids. It's a convenient place to retreat to if you need to get off the beach and out of the sun for a while.
